Using Podcasting Equipment
Where is the Podcasting Room?
The podcasting room is located on the second floor of the library.
- Reserve the Space Online
- Check out the Key at the Circulation Desk on the First Floor of the Library.
Using the Equipment
Getting Started:
- Remove the Dust Cover: Carefully take off the dust cover from the RODECaster Pro II and place it on the shelf to the side. This avoids any interference with your recording.
- Turn On the RODECaster Pro II: Press the red button located on the back of the device to power it on.
- Check the top left of the screen for library settings. You should see an image of the earth. This confirms the audio settings are set optimized for our room's acoustics.
Do Not Adjust Sliders/Knobs: Avoid touching the sliders or knobs because they are already optimized for this room.
Start Recording
- Open a Recording App: Search “voice recorder” in the Windows taskbar search at the bottom of the desktop, and then open the app when it shows in the search results.
- Check Audio Input: Make sure the audio recording input is set to “RODECaster Pro II” (exclude the chat variant) on the Voice Recorder app. This will ensure that when you record your audio, you are using the podcast microphone instead of the microphone on your computer.
- Selecting a Microphone: Microphone 1 is the main microphone near the RODECaster Pro II, and microphone 2 is the guest microphone on the other side of the table.
Make sure your mouth is about 1 to 6 inches from the mic, but never touching the mic.
- Begin Recording: Press the record button on your recording app to begin.
Finishing Up:
- Turn Off Equipment: Press the red button on the back of the RODECaster Pro II to turn it off. When prompted if you want to turn off your device, select yes on the touchscreen.
- Replace the Dust Cover: Gently cover the device with dust cover to protect it.
